Graphic Card

August 4th, 2016

hi. recently, i have this problem that my monitor goes blank or some lines image appear after my pc on just for awhile. ~15minutes. then i monitor the gpu temperature, seems like the temperature increase even when in idle. maybe this is cause by the memory clock that always process at peak. (default 450mhz) how to fix this? please help. thanks.
ASUS AMD Radeon HD 5450 Silent.

You could try opening the case and removing any dust/cleaning your hardware thoroughly.

i’ve cleaned all the dust it with air compressor. so there barely no dust. the problem is that memory clock constantly runs at peak/max even though in idle. ive tried reinstall the driver and also use previous version. clean install. just now reformat windows. still no success. could it be the hardware problem? the gpu or mobo?

I have googled a bit. It looks like there are several possible causes.
Check this out: http://forums.cnet.com/7723-6122_102-556252/pc-monitor-goes-black-but-power-remains-on
And this as well: http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-18984-monitor-going-black-after-2-seconds
You could try that lowering brightness trick perhaps.
I don’t think your gpu memory clock is a problem it looks like 450mhz is exactly what you selected in your settings.

If your having line on my monitor then its diffidently the gpu. You memory clock is at the minimum which is at 450 on the setting tab. The line is cause by overheating or over voltage when overclocking. Even when overheat….. 55c is not high and is not consider overheating when we talk about temperature in general but this is idle temp. So its high for that. Try reseat it and open them up and change the thermal paste. Making sure the fan is spinning to….
Answer #5
i dont think its the monitor issue bcause i’ve tried connect it to TV using HDMI, still the same problem.
im not even overclocking. u can see the checkbox “Enable Graphic Overdrive” is not checked. so it using default setting that is GPU clock 650Mhz and Memory 450Mhz at max. it should operate at lower clock when idle. should it?
and… im confuse with the specs. 900mhz or 450mhz

this gpu have not fan. silent type.
then im refer to my laptop using GPU-Z, here the pic. the memory clock is not process at max in idle. (default is 800Mhz)

can it probably be mobo compatibility? this really give me headache.
Answer #6
It is most likely not a temperature issue (48 degrees is hot for idle, but should not cause crashes)
I also dont think it is a mobo compatibility issue. Perhaps your GPU ram is corrupted, your GPU bios is corrupted (unlikely), but it could also be a power supply issue. What PSU are you using, along with your system specs?
Answer #7
i’ve already sent the GPU for warranty. my PSU is Antec VP650P.
mobo asus P5KPL. pentium D 940
ram ddr2 2gb.

Good idea, sounds like a faulty card..
I would have thought it may be a few years old by now..
Answer #9
just use it for 10 months. warranty is 3 years. wow.
