you need to keep your tattoo dry in the shower, don’t let it get soaking wet. wash with soap that doesn’t have fragrance or color added. and use only your fingers(no washcloths or scrubbers). gently rinse off and pat dry.

not only can you shower, but you SHOULD shower… while your tattoo is healing it is VERY important that you treat it as an open wound… wash with antibacterial soap once a day with your hand, rubbing in circles… pat dry. the very first wash should be done with water as hot as you can stand it for a few seconds, then immediately wash with cold water. i advise a very very small amount of A&D ointment, just enough so your clothes do not stick to it… apply as needed… but its also important for your tattoo to breathe, as an open wound needs to heal. after four days or so swittch to curel or lubriderm lotion… you actually should apply lotion to your tattoo everyday for the rest of your life. DO NOT PICK YOUR SCABS if you have concerns contact your artist. not only do i wear/collect tattoos, i am an artist fell free to PM me if you have questions
EDIT: heres a link to the aftercare sheet i give to clients…
