Firefox continuously downloads somthing or the other

My net limiter shows that firefox contiuously downloads somthing or the other at the rate of 1-3 kbps.
So whts the reason behind it.
im a cost conscious person as you know in India we are facing the crime of high cost internet … Average net connection speed is 128kbps (of most of the people in india hahahaha….a big atrocity,injustice,a horrible situation …….). so 1-3kbps costs a lot when my browser is on for 1-2 hrs.
so please help me guys…

could be updates or add content
if you just open FF with no pages, just blank browser, it still downloading ?
any extensions installed ?

FF constantly checks for updates, itself and for addons too, so try disabling all addons, ff updates and check again
