Fake Movies

March 11th, 2022

Is there anything you can do to see if movie is fake before downloading, had a few lately not from this site.
Answer #1
not really, unless its a torrent. some of them allow you to view the file whilst its downloading.
Answer #2
Not sure on other sites, but on here leave a comment to warn others if its definitely fake or not what it should be and report the post. The Mod’s will deal with it accordingly if its reported. But there is no way to check beforehand except for comments left by other members. If you have any more problems you can always ask

if you do report fake movies a detailed explanation would be the better option, saves a mod downloading the file and checking it out him/herself

I’m gonna add my two cents on this as I don’t think you got the right answers.
There are two ways to determine if it’s a fake or not:
1. Look up the movie on xrel (a release NFO site)
http://www.xrel.to/home.html
If you see no release group has released the particular movie, But it’s available
for download somewhere, Then it’s guaranteed to be fake! Also, If you see it was released by a certain group, But on the site you found it on
it’s listed as a release of an entirely different group which isn’t listed on xrel for that
particular movie, Then I’d say there’s a 50% chance it’s fake, Unless it’s some kinda re-encode.
To be on the safe side – Always stick to official releases as you see em on xrel.
2. If still in doubt, You don’t have to download the entire file in order to determine if it’s fake.
If you download from a torrent and you see that it includes a RAR file+Text (With the text
saying something like visit xx site to get the password) then it’s a fake! Also, If you download
from file hosts, Just let it download a few megs, Then if it’s a video file, Preview it with VLC (it can preview incomplete files without a problem!) or if it’s a RAR archive, Make a copy of it and open it up with WinRAR, Clearly, Your not gonna be able to fully extract it, But that besides the point.
If you see that inside the archive you got another RAR and a text file (or an archive comment saying you should visit a certain site for the password) or if you see that the files are marked as password protected (But the poster or site you found it on never mentioned the password) then it’s fake! I would like to point out however that the first part (previewing the file or making a copy of the archive) can be a little tricky, It varies with each download manager, Some will keep in-progress downloads in a certain temp folder and will only move it to the destination when it’s done, While others will keep it in the destination folder (But as a hidden file til it’s complete, Possibly with a different name or extension) so you gotta figure it out first, But once you do, It’s simple enough!

Some movs have samples and yeah agreed the .nfo is usefull. Also check on imdb when the mov is actually availible on blu-ray, dvd or R5, R6 regions and screeners. I personally like to wait for at least a decent screener, not so eager to watch a noisy, dimmed CAM or TS editions.
