Facetiming overseas

I’m in New Zealand and trying to FaceTime a 136 mobile number in China, but am unsure of what to enter as the number (in my phone for face timing).
Every number that I have tried has failed (x is not available for FaceTime), even when I know that the person I am trying to FaceTime is currently connected to wifi.
Help would be much appreciated.

you must add your china friend’s number +countrycode and then go to your phone open your contacts and click her number and there will have a facetime button (click on it – she must be online and must have an ios device as well)
