F.E.A.R. Extraction point installation problem

I finished F.E.A.R. today and wanted to install its expansion pack, EP. But during the installation process, a message appears about the installation of 1.07 patch. Now when I click Ok, a warning message appears saying this patch is only for the American version of the game and I should use the proper patch. Now the question is:
1. How should I find which version of the game I have?
2. Where can I download the appropriate patch? I saw some 1.07 patches for F.E.A.R., but they were around 500 MB and I can’t download files that big. ( and I think it’s unnecessary, since pure patches are not that big. )
Any hint is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

i had the same problem when i tried to install FEAR XP last year
i don’t remember exactly how i solved this problem, i downloaded it from here (Warezbb) though
The patch was around 500mb (which is the true size of the original patch). try to download a patch which is not for the american version of FEAR
EDIT: i’ve found a disc which contains the 1.08 update and also found a note for this problem you are facing and i found this

Thank you very much. The solution in the thread you pointed at solved the problem. It was just a simple registry edit. ( Although I think it could only happen in Windows XP. )
