External HD telling me to format?

August 1st, 2016

I haven’t used it in a while but I just went to plug it into my freshly installed Win 7 to transfer more videos too (use to play on 360/ps3) and now it prompts me to format? How do I avoid that so I don’t lose all my TV seasons on there?

i had to use this before, after i unplugged it (external hd) from a comp that was froze up, it didnt write some info. when plugged into another comp, over half the stuff was gone(still there, just not recognized). http://www.google.com?t=2762428&highlight=
edit, the first one had virus replies. this one??? not sure which version i used, it was from the forum, and worked well though. gl.

I get that in Win 7 and Vista too, if it gets to format it to NTFS then it won’t work on your PS3 anymore. I’d just ignore it.

you should be able to use it without reformatting.
like said jsut ignore it…
if it gives you problems try this.
turn on the external and reboot.
