I don’t understand how the data table is made. Or should I use SPSS?
Any help will be really helpful!
Sure use SPSS. Wait what? Oh that’s right, you didn’t tell us anything about what are you trying to do.
I have States of a country with different sample sizes of persons from each State. I am measuring the period of incarceration of these prisoners. When I put down the average on a graph — I would like the sample size of that state reflect the width of the column on the chart so that I can graphically represent the reliability of the data.
So the smaller the sample size for a state the thinner the column width and the larger the sample size the thicker the column width.
I’m not even sure if SPSS can do this.
Thanks
Hmm I’m pretty sure you CAN do it in both programs, there’s a learning curve of course, I can’t help you though (if the sample doesn’t refer to a group of people and you have individual variables) as I’ve been doing something completely different on SPSS, personally I’d do this (if I understand you properly) with MSAccess, it seems easier to put the data to tables then use some SQL queries to export various reports and then use chart reports too:

Edit: If I didn’t understand properly and you only have two groups of data, essentially two variables, then just use SPSS and linear regression, you should be able to create any graph you wish afterwards.
