With all respect to I wouldn’t use ConvertXtoDVD. It produces terrible quality. Use TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works for the best quality.

you need to convert to VOB to be compatible with all DvD players, but most new DvD players can play avi and mkv files as long
as custom matrix has not been used.
Just look for Divx compatible in the manual.
oh use -r disks to be sure of DvD compatibility too…

.avi with DivX or Xvid codec is OK but NOT normally .mkv, I have found..

yeah I just downloaded a Video file with some Dip Shite custom mkv file.
VLC will play it but my media players won’t and my Divx Converter cannot recognize the
Video codec either… grrr
You could try Freemake Video Converter to convert to .avi or whatever..
http://www.freemake.com/
(Do a custom install with Freemake to avoid other crap..)
Mediainfo will give details about a video file..

If you have installed Nero on your computer, use Nero Vison.
^still, will never be as good as ConvertXtoDVD.
