Does running a HD benchmark on OS’s drive hinder results?

August 5th, 2016

So I finally got my RAID0 set up last night with 2x Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB drives…I found a couple benchmarks that has average speeds around 210MB/s. I’m only getting around 140MB/s and I was wondering if this is because Windows is running on the drive I’m running the test on? If I ran the same test from a bootable distro of Linux (or similar), would the results vary?
Answer #1
Ya the results would be better, but I don’t it would be that much better.
Answer #2
There are other factors too. Some people prefer to do short stroking.
