32 bit can only use up to 4 GB (but in reality closer to 3,5 GB)
64 bit can use more ram, like really insane amounts theoretically possible.
Also purely 64bit programs run faster and more efficiently, but as of yet, there are not many big apps that are fully 64bit.

Yet they work just as good emulated as they would on a 32bit OS (if not better). Not only does the 64bit allow more RAM, it also has better memory distribution. Vista x86 runs way slower for me than Vista x64, with 4GB RAM
You want to get pass the 3Gb barrier, 64 bit is currently the only solution.

Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit the max is either 128gig or 256 gig of RAM.
