Dictionary?

August 3rd, 2016

OK so i saw a term on here today that I’ve never seen before, HDTC. I figure I can’t be the only one on here that sees a phrase used that he’s never heard of before. So I got to wondering if maybe there was a page on here that explained some of the acronyms or terminology that get used on here all the time, but I can’t find one. There are even 2 stickies at the top of the movie section about terminology and file description but they don’t tell what any of them mean. So am i missing it or is this something that maybe we should think about starting?

My guess would be that it’s a misspelled version of “HDTV”. V is right next to C.
Answer #2
Orrrr it could stand for High definition Telecine hence the HDTC
TELECINE (TC) -
A telecine machine copies the film digitally from the reels. Sound and picture should be very good, but due to the equipment involved and cost telecines are fairly uncommon. Generally the film will be in correct aspect ratio, although 4:3 telecines have existed. A great example is the JURASSIC PARK 3 TC done last year. TC should not be confused with TimeCode , which is a visible counter on screen throughout the film.

Well it’s a movie posting from here. It states ” [PL+BU+RG+10]Gravity (2013) NEW HDTC FLAC 650MB+330MB-1L” The link to it is below. Come to think of it what the heck is FLAC?

A link to the actual post would have been better than the d/load link What is flac
FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec, an audio format similar to MP3, but lossless, meaning that audio is compressed in FLAC without any loss in quality. This is similar to how Zip works, except with FLAC you will get much better compression because it is designed specifically for audio, and you can play back compressed FLAC files in your favorite player (or your car or home stereo, see supported devices) just like you would an MP3 file.
FLAC stands out as the fastest and most widely supported lossless audio codec, and the only one that at once is non-proprietary, is unencumbered by patents, has an open-source reference implementation, has a well documented format and API, and has several other independent implementations.

Did you Google it first and investigate the answers you found there? Because I found this in the first link on my first search:
Acronym   Definition
HDTC   Humanitarian Demining Training Center
HDTC   Holding Down the Couch (webcomic)
HDTC   Hornchurch Drum & Trumpet Corps (UK)
HDTC   High-Density Turbidity Current (sedimentary geology)

PS: If you are wondering what website I used, its:

Yeah I sure did. I even found out that if you don’t put quotation marks around it Google gives you a bunch of crap about HDTV’s. But since none of these answers seem to have anything to do with a movie I asked here.
Answer #10
Its a TELECINE as I stated above in my first reply.
Answer #11
Oops sorry . I missed that one. Thanks
