Crtical Error on Installation of Windows XP

August 3rd, 2016

When Installing windows over vista it said this/
Error: Installation Failed: I\I386\asms. Erorr message: Acess is denied.
*****
Fatal Error:
One of the components that windows need to continue setup could not be installed.
Access is denied.
Some files through the installation didn’t install and I had to skip.
Anyone know the problem. If not then I buggered up my brand new computer I got for christmas.

by windows you mean XP ?
Don’t think you can “go back” to XP
you prob need to do a fresh install, one that wipes out all vista remnants

How do I do that?
I lost my boot disk.

Yes and KillDisk won’t help with this problem.
It’s caused by
A) Some XP cd’s have a screwed up ASMS directory. It can be fixed by modifying the ISO with a good ASMS dir. I think can give you the link to one
B) The DVD/CD drive is having problems. Use another drive
It has nothing to do with the HDD. Either the optical drive or that particular folder
