CPU Cabinet Change Required ?

February 7th, 2020

Hello Every One,
Recently i ordered a processor and a mother board.
Processor:- Intel 3.2 GHz I5 4570
Mobo:- Intel DB85FL
I am using a P4 CPU, Do i need to change the cabinet (Cabinet Fan Specially) Or The current cabinet of P4 can hold the new processor ?
Thanks In Advance ,
Rahul Shandilya

Answer #1
Should change them, you’ve spent a bit on an upgrade.
Don’t cheap out on the case or the power supply for reliable operation.
Answer #2
If it’s a standard case it should fit ok…
But honestly..You should get yourself a new case..A modern one that have good ventilation and up to date..
Answer #3
Thanks for making a quick reply..
Any recommendations ?
Edit:- i ran out of my budget after buying 3 things (Processor,Ram,Mobo)
Answer #4
That depends on how much you are willing to spend..
But the power supply definitely have to go even if you decide to keep the old case..
Answer #5
its running on AC . 230 volts 50 Mhz.
How many wattage of power supply shall i pick for new configuration ?
Answer #6
You will need at leas 500 or 600 Watts….
But look up your Motherboard requirements..You can download a user guide for it online..
Volts don’t matter as they are the same in all electricals sold in your country..
Answer #7
Thanks for a lot sir for keeping me updated with the required information.
This is what i came up with, 1). Corsair – 650 Watts 2). Zebronics – 600 Watts
3). Zebronics – 800 Watts
The others are really expensive in comparison, which one shall i buy & do i need to take of other things as well ? (is there anything related with psu ?)
Answer #8
Depends on what other hardware your going to put in. If your just running 3 hard drives with no dedicated graphics card.
A small wattage PSU will do, 400W.
The better power supplies are usually over 500W. If you have model numbers, it would be great. Brands mean very little.

Thanks a lot swords for looking at the thread again and helping me
I have ordered this PSU => http://www.snapdeal.com/product/zeb-800w-comp-power-supply/427760
I hope its nice and fits with requirement of other components, i could not find if there is anything required to be compatible with psu except the required wattage by other hardware. Waiting For Reply,

Should have ordered this one:

If your never going to ask for some information before you buy, you’ve just wasted at least 2 peoples time and you’ve gained nothing.

Oops Sorry, I was slighly impatient.
the link you gave, i already saw that.
it seems little weak and expensive in comparsion to the one i ordered.
More over i am planning to put a 2 GB graphic card in near future so i prefered a 800W instead of 500W.
as for cabinet, its too outdated how ever it looks good and fine ventilation. would it require a cpu cooler fan ?

Well for a fools errand, suit yourself. I find it pointless convincing people that think they know stuff and ask for help. For your current setup, you will find a wall power draw of under 160W. Seasonic is one of the premium brands that actually make their own power supplies, not like some shoddy Indian company. Video memory plays a minor role in the graphics card and if the graphics chip is a entry level, having GDDR3 memory is not fun.
Unless your going for 2 graphics cards, there is no way you would get to even use 800W. Let alone 500W unless you did a DIY short circuit, which the power supply protection circuit will kick in. In your cheap power supply, that might not work actually, imagine fireworks. Lots of rebadged low end power supplies out there, you give it even half its power rating, it won’t regulate properly and even burn itself out. A custom cooler is kind of useless if your case doesn’t vent properly and your country is hot.
Don’t be so cheap, if your so cheap, why not go AMD.
Answer #13
Just mailed snapdeal regarding cancellation for that order.
Hardware Details:-
1). 160 GB SATA HardDisk (Not Changing Now, As i haven’t used up even 40 GB)
2). Sony DVD Drive
3). Processor:- Intel 3.2 GHz I5 4570 4). Mobo:- Intel DB85FL 5). RAM:- Cosair 4 GB DDR3
The CPU i am currently running is with 350W of PSU, As per your saying the new hardware will not consume even 160W so i think it won’t be a bad idea not to replace the PSU, is it ?
Power Supplies Link (let me know if you believe it must be changed as its too old now & might not function good.)

The fact that power supply’s rated wattage is based on combined current ratings of all voltage ranges. So you have to buy big as running at full load doesn’t prompt a stable operation or efficiency. The things that wear in a power supply is the capacitors and line conditioner. Capacitors degrade to 60% in 3-4 years of operation if I remember correctly.

oh okay. placed my order, hope to receive the product soon.
Regarding graphic card.
i am very excited to use the new system as gaming console (using gaming console emulators).
Do i need a graphic card or the inbuilt graphic memory would be enough ?
Answer #16
500 Watts is Sufficient to run anything… as for the Chip… 4th generation ( I have just installed i7-3770K ) requires a Decent Motherboard ( I have a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H )
with Corsair Veneance 8G DDR 111 1600.. Geforce GTX 660 inno 3D Graph Card Samsung 840 500GB SDD /Samsung DVD writer/ Antec Three Hundred Case/ Coolermaster 550W ATX / Corsair H55 Liquid CPU Cooler.
And my new mobo is fookin fast … I`m in love.. Worth every penny of $1500.
PS: 7.7 on the windows Experience Index..

Depends on what you want to do, if your just browsing the internet and typing spreadsheets, do you reckon you need a dedicated video card?

Motherboards, I had more expensive ones. Did nothing apart from looking nice if you gaze at it all day.
Kind of boots slower since it needed “overclocking stability posting”.

I am not sure if i would require a dedicated video card.
Playing gaming console game (RAW 2013, COD, Crises, God Of War) would be my priority. No idea if inbuilt video memory of new processor can support these game
Answer #19
Well those games are for consoles?
You might have a hard time getting them to work lol.
Answer #20
PS2 emulator PCSX2 requires a pretty fast card to work well, so I would recommend getting a good card for it, integrated graphics would probably not run it too well.
I play God of War on it with a GTX650 card at 1920×1080 and it runs extremely well and smooth.
Answer #21
I would consider a package deal on a good case and PSU such as this..
