connecting two computers

January 28th, 2020

hey guys im having little bit of difficulty connecting two computers directly via cat6 cable, after bit of research ive realised the cable has to be crossed over so that fine,
so i went i MS site and found this
To Make a Direct Cable Connection
1.Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network Connections.
2.Under Network Tasks, click Create a new connection, and then click Next.
3.Click Set up an advanced connection, and then click Next.
4.Click Connect directly to another computer, and click Next.
5.Choose the role this machine will play in the communication. If this computer has the information to which you need to gain access, click Host. If this computer will access information from the other computer, click Guest.

The problem is that ive downloaded windows xp sp3 version from (XP Black Edition With SP3) and it seems like that option Click Connect directly to another computer is disabled??
help??anyone got any ideas.
thank you.

The reason that happens in Black XP is that in the WINNT.sif..in the I386 foler the settings is:
[Identification]
JoinWorkgroup="none"

you can edit it to look like this:
[Identification]
JoinWorkgroup=”Workgroup”
But if you allredy installed..just create a Workgroup…
Answer #3
use this:
computer A:
ip:192.168.0.1
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Workgroup: test
computer B:
ip: 192.168.0.2
subnet mask; 255.255.255.0
workgroup: test
The “Workgroup” must be the same on computer A and on computer B.
The cable must to be crossover for direct conection, without switch or router.
To change the “workgroup” right click on My Computer–>Properties–>Computer Name.
This you can change the computer name and workgroup.
good look

As i said..open the iso with ultraiso or any other image tools..copy or extract WINNT.sif from the I386 folder to another location…edit with notepad…make sure you keep an original copy before editing..after editing…open the iso again..copy the edited file back to the I386 folder..overwrite the original..and save the iso…
