Computer Shuts down with Media Player

July 26th, 2016

Hello everyone i would really like your advice. I have a fairly new pc and i face a problem. I have installed the KLite codec pack that includes Media Player Classic. Every time i try to use it it automatically shows blue screen and restarts. I also try to use the media player 8 and it also does the same for the movie formats not for the audio though. After it restarts i still face the same problem, Any ideas??I have xp pro sp1 and no other updates, could this be a virus (please note that this pc is not connected to the net and doesnt have an antivirus, however i transfer files from a pc that is connected to the net)? or is it just a bugged version of the operating system? In addition it sometimes shuts down when i try to run a exe file for a cracked game. Im confused, Thanks In Advance.

First, Download and transfer/install SP2 on the PC with the problem as well as the latest drivers for its video card.
Then, test it out again. If you see the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) again, please write down the error message at the bottom.

Hello again, Here is the Solution. Yes i did reformat the hard disk (thanks garrett30328) and everything works fine now. The problem was the klite codec pack, before i even started with the format i tried to unistall klite codec pack but despite that the problem still remained. After the format i installed all of the apps that i previously had excluding the codec pack. I hope this helps people that may encounter this type of problem. I seems that the codec pack conflicts the graphics card but i do not understand why??
Thank you all for your feedback!

Yes codec packs can cause conflicts and as you say maybe with certain graphics cards..
May be a good idea to use VLC media player (freeware) which comes with it’s needed codecs so you should not have a problem then and can stay away from codec packs
