Hey , i got all the drivers from the link u recommend, but the network driver will not work, it says installing, unpacking and complete, but the network connection not showing in control pa networking options. The nic light is blinking, but i don’t think the network driver is installing properly. Can u test the network driver from the link u sent me? I think something wrong with it. And there is only 1 network driver for this model, can’t find any previous ones. Unless the nic is faulty, but its blinking and lighting up. I tried installing the driver in safe mode also, no luck. Should i install windows xp home, that is the system came with years ago? Maybe that driver is only for xp home? I have windows xp pro sp3 on it now.
Did you install the Chipset drivers?
Without it the network will not work even if you install the driver for it
I just installed the chipset i believe. From the link i went to software-management nvidia chipset support, downloaded and installed, restart machine, reinstalled the network driver..same thing…not seeing it…so i downloaded like 6 previous versions of the chipset and tried them all, reinstall the network driver, still no luck…reinstalled the newest chipset version right now though…nic port faulty?
That link is the official HP link for your drivers. If you are in the device manager, open the nic in question by double-clicking the name to get to the properties page. Select the details tab and choose hardware IDs. You will see something like: PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_16D51043&REV_06
What hardware ID do you see? We might be able to find the drivers using this.
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_01C3&SUBSYS_00A80E11&REV_C2
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_01C3&SUBSYS_00A80E11
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_01C3&CC_020000
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_01C3&CC_0200
That is what i found when i clicked on the hardware tab…ethernet controller has a yellow question mark on it…
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp20501-21000/sp20952.exe
If it fails to install driver, use Device Manager and Update driver on it.
Device Manager>Ethernet device
Right click, Update Driver
Say “no, not at this time” for connecting to Windows Update
Select> Install from a list or specific location
Select> Don’t search I will choose the driver to install
In the list of common hardware types, choose “show all”
Remove the check from “Show Compatible Hardware” and click on “Have Disk”
Next…browse to C:\Swsetup\sp20952
Choose the “inf” and ignore any protest from XP
Reboot.
If this sequence still fails, try unzipping the sp20952 and extract it to a folder. Then use the Have Disk and browse to the unzipped files
Check this topic.
Near the end it gives a link for Nvidia unified drivers which seem to have worked..(need at least XP SP1)

^???^ That tread got screwed up! Anyhow here are the drivers..

The link to the driver kept sending me to some nvidia license page. I goggled the 3.13 version as u recommended, and found it elsewhere..it worked man, finally…the connection is there now, internet access now…curious, how u know the 3.13 version would work? The hardware id’s? Thanks man, always help me out in situations like these, thanks to u and , also for the assistance…
Bit weird really..
The first link came up with discussion and the suggestion to use the unified drivers (with the link shown), which the guy did and it worked.
Seems that I can’t read it all now as the ‘solution is blocked unless you are a premium member’…
Strange it worked for me the first time but not after that!
That second link works for me though and goes straight to the download page for the drivers!

Anyhow, good you found them OK and got it working
Either the SP or the universal NVidia solutions work. You google the PCI and try to avoid the obvious “download driver” sites that try to sell to find the driver.
