From that area… roughly speaking, because you haven’t mentioned size (2.5 or 3.5 inch) or rpm etc… It would cost about $70-$80 new.
Hope this helps.

Does a lower IP address on wireless determine a faster speed

February 9th, 2020

Does a lower IP address on wireless determine a faster speed
I checked to see how many devices we had connected to our router at one time.
Devices & IPS went from:
192.168.1.2
down to
192.168.1.9
Would the device on .2 get a faster connection than the device on .9
For example if both devices were being maxed download at the same time. Would one take priority or would it be down to how good the actual connection was (i.e. closer to the router/ better hardware)
Always wanted to find this out. Thanks Happy New Year

Answer #1
Absolutely not unless you have QOS setup that way which is unlikely.
Answer #2
To put it another way – do you read page 2 of a book faster than page 9 of the same book (given that they are both a full page of text, of course)?
Or – does a car with a lower number plate go faster?
The network address is the same thing – it’s just a label.

Megashares Download Problems

February 9th, 2020

Well, I paid $10 for a 1-month linkcard with Megashare.
I’m trying to download http://d01.megashares.com/?d01=d8794dc, but it won’t work.
I click to download, and after around 10 seconds of struggling, I get a page load error. Any ideas how to fix this?
I really want to download this.
Thanks
EDIT: Here’s a picture of the error —

Answer #1
a little more information is needed to help determine the problem.
can you download that file without logging into your account? can you download any other file from MS while signed in?
usually that error appears when two or more computers in your home are trying to use the same IP but it can mean other things as well (possibly including your account being used by someone else). if two or more computers are using the same IP then it would cause more problems than that also so it must be a different error.
try to do the two questions posted above and see if the problem persists.
Answer #2
Same problem… and they don’t even care responding to my messages…
~ censored ~ idiots!
Answer #3
That link works on my end. Both with and without my account.
Try the link again and see if it works now.

Hmm, let’s see…
Yes, I can start the download without logging in. Hmm… :\
And I’ve tried a few other files now, and none have worked. What the hell?
I’m pretty sure nobody else on the network is using the same IP, and there’s definitely nobody using my account. This sucks.
Answer #5
strange,
i know this might not do anything but you can try resetting your IP. i really have no clue on what could be wrong if IP resetting won’t work but you should try emailing MS support as well, here’s a link to contact:
http://www.megashares.com/321contact.php
resetting ip:
1. click start then run (may be different in vista)
2. type in cmd
3. command prompt will open, type in the following and hit "enter"
4. ipconfig /release
5. then type in "ipconfig /renew" (without quotes of course)

also, if willing, try downloading the file from a download manager such as (if using firefox, get the downthemall extension).

But I couldn’t reset my IP like that anyway, I’m on a Mac. I’ll check around to find out how to do so on here.
Anyway, I restarted just to see if it would work.

Make a batch file. Google for the silent parameters to the setup files. MSFN forums will help you a heaps
In the batch file you can just type something like
ECHO Installing apps..
@ECHO OFF
START /WAIT D:\Path\to\setup1.exe <silent parameters>
START /WAIT D:\Path\to\setup2.exe <silent parameters>
START /WAIT D:\Path\to\setup3.exe <silent parameters>
START /WAIT D:\Path\to\setup4.exe <silent parameters>

This is just a simple example
Answer #5
Try Norton Ghost.
Install system and all ur favorite apps and than make a clone of system with Ghost.
Next time u just restore system from media (cd, dvd). It will take 10 minutes.
Answer #6
I agree with TheDA ^^…
Make a batch file, with the batch file, if you have the config files backed up some where you can even set lines in the batch file to copy these config files over to the relevant places and have most of the programmes install with your custom settings.
It doesn’t work for all programmes though, but most, just do some research as The DA said.

Which Processor laptop to buy? i3 or i5?

February 9th, 2020

sup guys
so my current laptop is really old and was wondering to update to a new laptop..
i have my eye on lenovo… but am confused to either go with i3-4100U 1.7Ghz OR i5-4210U 1.7Ghz, rest of the specs are same except the price diff there is for i3 and i5 but that im not considering at the moment..
all i want to know is what is the difference??
i checked the bench marks on the interenet and they are almost the same so no edge on getting i5 processor.. am i right or not? i know i5 can be over clocked and i3 cant be but still is there any speed difference???
and the overclocking is auto right? with same speed i dont think its wise to pay more for i5 if your getting same result…
also tell me which is the best processor type? U or M or E??
i see U takes less power but M is more faster.., so what to get i5 4th gen U or M processor?
kindly help me make my decision..
thanks!

Answer #1
i5 is a newer gen and has more calculating power … as for the diff models, what are you planning on running on the laptop … are you more concerned about performance or energy saving ?
Answer #2
performance….
as for my calculating power, i cudnt find any difference in benchmarks.. why is that then?
Answer #3
What change are the optimization some instruction that will give you a performance gain in highly optimized softwares. The real difference is from i3 to i7. If you don’t plan to use CPU intensive application there is no difference for you. Games will not grant you that performance boost, so if you don’t use specific softwares and no virtual system, i5 is only a loss of money.
Answer #4
I had the same issue… so I bought an i7 instead and suggest you do the same for your laptop, not desktop.
Answer #5
overclocking a laptop? good luck with that.
look at benchmarks, if they’re the same. go for the cheaper one!
also, just because ^ is happy with an i7, remember they cost a lot more!
Answer #6
can go to i5…..but in latest go to i7
Answer #7
I’ve been a computer tech for over 30 years. One thing I always tell people who want to buy a laptop, is to buy as much power as possible within budget. This is because it is usually either very difficult, or impossible to change out components. If you go with the i3, your stuck with the i3 until you get another laptop. If you can afford an i5, then go for it.
Answer #8
thanks guys for your input
i5 is within my budget, its 9.75% more expensive than i3 model.. is it worth it then?
yes i7 is costing alot more.. plus im not that high end user so ill avoid i7 for now..
one more thing… should i upgrade to 8gb ram or 4gb ram with win 8.1 is enough?
Answer #9
10% is not much, is it worth it for the i5, of course, the i3 is tired these days.
You say ” im not that high end user so ill avoid i7 for now..” Do you see some change in the future, where you may user pc for more than what you use it now. You’ll never know what your doing in March 2016, or later.
8GB ram is a must/minimum value…I still think you should go for i7. My 8.1 Acer flies with it and never craps out when I push it with 8GB
Answer #10
thanks for the tip
now im thinking of i5 with 8gb ram,
but still ill avoid i7 for now as its much more exp and its not in my range..
Answer #11
as many answered your question , i will help the letters which you wonder about
U means ultra low power M means mobile
K means unlocked where you can overclock.
you dont need to worry about those too much cuz on laptops you are not offered many choice most of them are same. as for cpu choice , i would pick i5 if there is no huge price difference since it will be better in long term usability for your laptop. dont go to i7 on laptops , their prices are insane unless there is a discount. actually all laptop prices are too much compared to their specs , they just increase price cuz they are able to put them into a tiny thing but i7 range prices are really crazy.
Answer #12
hmm.. thanks ..
u guys have made my mind for i5 8gb ram!
Answer #13
why stuck at i5 can go to i7
Answer #14
I had a intel pentium chip on my laptop, it was crap. I got an i7 2nd gen and it worked a treat. think it cost me £90 but it wasn’t the easiest to install.
what I’m saying is, if you’ve got the time on your hands, go with the i3/i5 then later down the line you can always upgrade!
Answer #15
just my 2 cents worth….why would anyone who’s buying a laptop even consider buying a processor with a “U” in the part number? Same as Intel’s “S” & “T” in desktop CPUs…..all it means is that they’re underpowered. Granted in a laptop you may think about it if you want extended battery life….at the cost of extended performance…and it really does slow the CPU down….but on a desktop?
Answer #16
, he is buying a laptop.
Answer #17
Extra memory for sure. Upgrading lappy processors gets ugly and you’re one ribbon cable or tiny clip away from a toaster. I do it, but don’t you do it! Check the graphic chip set to see how much load it will take off your processor. Going high end processor is great to brag about for a few weeks but generally a waste of money. Go with your best overall value and be sure to get a cooling pad… Hmm? What else? Oh yea! Don’t buy an HP

Tie-dying with dylon dye

February 9th, 2020

Hi,
I bought a Tie-Dye Kit and it worked fine,
but instead of buying Kits all the time I thought id buy the Dye itself,
looked at some YouTube Videos, seen that the Dylon Hand-Dyes were good,
bought some.. bought some Bottles…
In the Video though, one in particular, they say to empty the Dye into the Bottles….
but it only shows a small bit at the bottom of their Bottles…
they are using the Lucozade Sport ones.
I’ve emptied mine into my Bottles which are a little thinner,
but there is loads in there!
look at the attached Photo,
to anyone that does Tie-Dying… is this too much?
shall I keep it to just a cm or so from?
and then add the tablespoon of Salt and Water…
If someone could let me know asap,
im guessing if I do it like this, the colour will just be really vibrant and alot wasted..
and the less Dye you use the paler the colour will be?
so.. how much so I need to put in about?
If you can just let me know if this is ok to do then great
thanks.

ATI + 3D

February 9th, 2020

Hello. I have a ATI HD 5770 1GB + Windows 7 and i am looking for 3d glasses (like nvidia 3d vision) and what spec they have. I want your opinion. Which glasses and monitor should i choose. Thanks.
Sorry for bad english…
3D Games and movies

Answer #1
For 3D movies? No point in buying a monitor just for 3D… Any LCD will give you the effect with proper 3D glasses.
Answer #2
You’ll need to have a 120HZ lcd screen for proper 3d effect on games… (for 3d vision of nvidia)
Tested it myself on a retailer event..
Answer #3
Any suggestion for glasses ?
Answer #4
100Hz+ screen is all you need for 3D.
edit: well you also need some 3D footage, a good enough GPU to play the video back and the 3D glasses XD
I used 3D vision at EuroGeamer Expo 09 and you wont get an effect like that without buying there 300 setup.
