Can’T properly play ripped blu-ray files

September 6th, 2013

I recently downloaded HDCHINAs rip of X-men First Class and I’m having trouble playing it. I tried making an iso, mounting it, and playing it with vlc player but it didn’t work. When I use the k-lite codec pack with windows media player, I click on “index” or “MovieObject” under the BDMV folder and it plays quite well, but I can’t seem to get the subtitles to show. I would just remux the actual movie file, but it appears to have been broken up into different files rather than just one and I can’t figure out which ones build the full movie. If there’s a way, I would just like to actually navigate the menus and select option/bonuses and watch the movie that way, but I can’t seem to figure out how. Any help would be much appreciated.
Answer #1
vlc should play just about any movie straight up
what format is the movie in ?
Answer #2
Well, like I said the movie files themselves are in the m2ts format but it runs like crap on vlc. I don’t see any picture and the sound cuts in and out.
I use Windows Media Player and it plays just fine, but you see, my problem is that the movie is broken up into different files and rather than go through the hassle of trying find all of them and play them, I would rather just find a way to go through the menus themselves and play them.
Answer #3
so it is in original blu ray format.
da player is a free download to try. they claim it plays m2ts without issues

also k-lite codec pack says it will play them in WMP
The only thing I am not sure on is what file takes you to the main menu like the *ifo file does on a regular dvd

That daplayer is awful. It kept skipping, audio was out of sync, and for some reason it wasn’t playing the english subtitles. Also, I noticed that the option to play a bluray from a folder didn’t work. How do you enable subtitles in Windows Media Player? There’s some non-english parts and not even the movie has hard coded subtitles in it. I clicked the “lyrics, captions, subtitles” options to “on, if available” and even tinkered with the default settings and I can’t bring them up. Thank you so far for the replies.

I found this wmp is locked down you have to take ownership via the command line for subtitles to work

and another to verify the procedure

Try mpc star player

Answer #8
Decent player, but still couldn’t get subtitles. It would be extremely helpful if I could open up the “index” or “movieobject” file that seems to play all the movie files together in vlc. Is there any way to do that? By the way , thank you for the help.
