Here are two ways to fix this…
First one quoted from a post I found elsewhere (thx to the op)..
=== METHOD NUMBER 1 ===
“Hi there,
Indeed seems their new firmware is blocking rapidshare and they have been told to deny all knowledge when you ring, still theres a way to get it to work again!
copy and paste these two lines into the file HOST wich is found in
windows > system32 > drivers > etc
( right click it and open with notepad only )
195.122.131.46 ~ Dead file host ~
195.122.131.46 RapidShare: Easy Filehosting
Save restart windows and your be able to get and use rapidshare once again
Hope that helps”
=== METHOD NUMBER 2 ===
This one will fix the problem and has the added benefit of making your web browsing faster and also stops Phishing etc :-
Use a site called OPENDNS : http://www.opendns.com/
There is nothing to install just follow the instructions on the site, fast and simple.
A Video review that explains what it does and is VERY clear and helpfull : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGVvzz_twX0
Both of the above work and are free.
Hope this helps.

^ That’s all well and good but shouldn’t have to be done.
It’s working for me by adding the IP instead of the ~ Dead file host ~ bit but that’s inconvenient. Are BT actually going to fix it and is the fact the firmwire has messed it up intentional or an accident?
BT aren’t going to reimburse RS users for days lost not being able to use their premium account. Get it sorted!
Answer #10
Just make the IP address a bookmark, or your home page. If manually setting the IP gets you there but the URI doesn’t, it must be a DNS thing :O You can get around this by using something like openDNS as suggested! ^_^ Good luck
Answer #11
Check the The Official Rapidshare Discussion Thread:

Answer #12
What BT are doing is when you click the link the BT DNS server (converts your web addresses from www.blahblah.com to its actual ip eg 127.x.xx.xx and connects to the site) just refuses to convert it and therefore denies access the site. I would expect a lot more providers to do this to cut down on your traffic from these sites like RS MU and others soon enough.
Regardless whether you have this problem or not I can recommend OpenDNS for the fact that its a lot quicker than the BT one you use by default and speeds up browsing.
Answer #13
bt can stuff it in a few months 24 a month to be blocked
thanks for the reminder about hosts file works a treat
