can somebody help me with this????
there are a 1000 icons on my desktop, i recovered some deleted data from my external and i accidentally restored them on my desktop… now the desktop always freezes and i am out of options….

try booting into safe mode and see will that work and can delete the icons for ya

Press and hold left mouse button, draw a big box around them, then right click mouse and click cut and then paste them where you want them to be or click delete.

? does using a Restore point fix this ?

Boot to command prompt or use a liveCD (hirens with it’s miniXP) and then copy some or all of the files from your desktop folder to somewhere else.
