Burglar Alarm

August 2nd, 2013

I cannot find a active forum about Burglar Alarm on Google so posted here hoping I’ll get some expert advise,
I want to secure my home by installing Burglar Alarm but don’t know much details about them or any company
I’ve did a bit of research and found I could either purchase a Burglar Alarm kit and install it myself and if there’s a break-in, it will dial a phone call/text message to the number that is registered on the system or use a Burglar Alarm company and if there’s a break-in, it will inform the police
So I don’t know which option I should choose, need some expert advise

Answer #1
Buy a big dog instead, they are much better company.
Answer #2
You should search under “Home Security” rather than “Burglar”.
I found this site….hope it helps.

My advice, Since this is a field you have no knowledge in, Leaving it to the pro’s would be best.
Find a security company in the yellow pages, Give em a call and have em send over one of their ppl
for consultation. Also, Getting an alarm alone would be insufficient, You should have em install
security cams too.

So getting a Burglar Alarm with a company like ADT that will inform the police if there’s a break-in will be more secure than DIY install and inform me via phone/message if there’s a break-in,
You know any other company like ADT in the UK?

There are lots of companies in the UK, Eagle Security Solutions, Chubb and Dyno-Secure (past of British Gas)
Be aware, if you choose to have the police in the loop and have more than two false alarms in a year, they will take you off their register.

I would think so, They’ll probably be able to get there faster, Plus they’re trained to deal with these kind of situations.
Also, Some companies have their own private guards which will come for a checkup if the alarm goes off. But I still maintain
that you should get cams too, An alarm alone won’t cut it.

Nope, But you could just google it.

Happened to me
*edit
Also – the police will only attend if two or more devices in your property get activated. (This is in the UK)
*edit 2 – Also, the police do not respond fast, unless you have a panic alarm installed and activate that. Burglar alarms are bottom of their response list, well here in London anyway. They generally just drive past and ring the nominated keyholder, which companies like ADT, Chubb etc have already done.
hence my original post – get a big dog instead

Actually, some of the posts are current. Irrespective of that, there is a ton of information to be had by just reading posts in the different forums and Q&A sections.
FYI ….The forum does work.
