Yep, all ubuntu discs are already bootable… just download and burn or request for free shipped copies.

All versions of ubuntu are live CDs, allowing you boot from the disc and use the OS. Maybe a different version or different linux base?

Are you sure that you set your BIOS to boot the CD first and not the HDD?
