Black ops Performance issues

January 20th, 2020

I downloaded the Skidrow release of CoD: Black ops and have some odd performance problems with it. It shutters/jumps A LOT, to the point where its unplayable. In between the jumps the framerate is fine. Even the menu starting from the Black Ops logo with the smoke it jumps and even the menu selection. Ive tried the Update 1 patch from Skidrow, tried with vsync on and off. Any resolution any graphic setting, same results. Even the lowest graphics settings it does it. And whats wierd too is when you change a graphics setting in game the screen goes yellow for a while and it takes a bit for it to recover from this. I dunno, IMO the graphics in MW2 look better and I can run that game at max settings and still get decent framerates. I know this is made by a diff dev and a diff engine but still, I dunno. My system is by no means uber or anything but it should run the game fine. Any advice would be sweet, thanks!

Okay, your system little bit better than mine, I got E8400 @3.0GHz, and Bfg tech Geforce 9800GT, and I have same problem here. I already made a posted like this but not much answer, I think you should wait for another update/ patch to see what happen.
Answer #2
im using laptop, gt335m graphic cards and running on high settings and nothing happened.maybe you can try off antialiasing filtering, set maximum pre-rendered frames to 3 and disable anisotropic? try disable triple buffing too.. hope these settings will work for you..

First off, scene releases don’t usually have the latest updates, if you bought it off steam, it will be very smooth, the game is like $95 NZD, which is not that bad. Well, the downside is that your hardware is not that recommended, you would have to do some heavy overclocking with that CPU as the game is optimized for quad cores. The system requirements that they provided is mediocre.
The dedicated server browser is back, so that is a bonus.
Answer #4
well you might as well to leave the cpu alone as my i5 makes me run smooth on this game, might be as well overclock your graphic card a lil bit, like 10%?

Say around 20 – 25%.
I’m getting around 110 FPS with my system:
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
AMD 5750 @ 1920×1080
4GB DDR 2 800
Of course I changed a few video settings as some settings are buggy.
All of the 6 cores are utilized.

Have U tried The Lag Fix?
Answer #7
Try using the resource monitor [ in CTRL + ALT + DEL under Performance tab ] when it starts lagging and see what’s using a lot of CPU / RAM etc. I remember my PC used to slow down because my Kaspersky used to interfere with PowerIso, so I had to uninstall KasperSky [ I haven’t used it in a while, but I believe that’s how you spell it lol]

Update1? yes, I did. Rolling Eyes I don’t really care much about this game so I don’t want to spend too much money on my PC. you know, but thanks Razz

You should be able to run the game fine. Well this game was really made for Xbox 360 because of the 6 CPU’s it has. I guess they didn’t change it when they made it into a pc port.

I downloaded and patched the game with that and I can finally play!
Can run it at max settings without crappy fps or choppy gameplay finally. I still get the wierd yellow crap when I change the graphics settings or tab out.
Answer #13
I can’t run the Black Ops Skidrow version on my laptop.
Specs:
Core 2 Duo T5450 1.66GHz
2BG RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit
Enough HDD
Mobile Intel GM965 Express Chipset Graphics Card…this is epic fail, as expected.
I get like 1frame/second (how do you actually measure it?) and everything is a slideshow.

Not surprising you can’t run this, many high end rigs are struggling to actually run the game properly, the game us riddled with bugs which are been worked on! I bought this game from gamestop & am in the process of comms with gamestop to return it! Anyway, to measure your fps in multiplayer drop down your console /draw_fps 1 that may not be exactly the command but it will be enough to show your optional commands find the one similar to it and capow! I’m going to safely say it is in fact your GFX the 8800gt, the exact same card I have & indeed I’m having these issues too. the only difference in our specs, is our CPU. you can see in my above post they are working on this ‘hitching on certain graphics card’, I take it the 8800gt is one of those cards!
