BIOS Won’t Recognise Hard Drive

August 1st, 2016

Hey guys, I tried to format and install a new xp operating system. When I load the disc and get as far as the part where it asks if I want to create or dlete a partition I cannot porceed as it does not detect the internal hard drive.
If I connect an external hard drive, it is recognised, but I don’t proceed.
Anyone know whats wrong?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

You have to install the sata drivers. Download them from the motherboard manufacturer website, put them on a floppy or usb and when the installation (the big blue screen with a grey bar at the bottom saying setup is loading files) says “press f6 to install 3rd party drivers” press f6 and install the sata drivers. Or you could slipstream them in the windows cd with nlite.
