best video editing programs?

The real good ones aren’t as easy as you think. I’m talking about softwares like Sony Vegas or After Effects. It also depends in what you want to do.

just very basic editing like putting like a bar witht he persons name under the video

I guess that’s not hard to do on those programs, but i think Movie Maker should do fine.

Adding text (iiuc) isn’t a simple thing – well none of my vid progs can do it (I feel so inadequate). Guess you could always create a subtitle track which displays the required name throughout the film. Though methinks you’re get your recommendation v.soon from someone with more videditn knowhow than me.
For simple editting, scene cutting and no more, I use VideoReDo and DIVX Author 1.5 – none of which do what you’re after, so I’m being no help whatsoever and should really go now.
