Anyway I can tell who an AIM message came from? (IP wise)

So then, at the end of going pysco on me, he says he’s from the local county police department, and called me by my last name.. (lol).. gfxbot3: I'm a <name> County field officer, Mr. <name>
gfxbot3: Are there any other felonies which you'd like to admit to?
gfxbot3: Mr. <name>, do you want to make my job easier?
gfxbot3: I'm aware that you have some skills that may be of use to us
gfxbot3: Do you know what computer hacking is?

Haha. So, I know for a fact that its not a “police” officer. I’m not familiar with tracing AIM IP’s. I tried the same thing as MSN, sending him a 5MB file, and looked at my active connections (Works for MSN, done it to my friend) But he logged off just as I selected the file..
So anyway to track him using the SN? I could care less, even if I don’t find him/her =P. Just wana see how they react when I do the same thing to them. (Or approach them in school.. I am quite intimidating… (6 foot 4, can bench 250LBs)..

No.
Even if you get his IP adress what would you do with it?
IP adress owner in known to ISP. You’ll need some super hacking to get to that.
You can’t because all chats are processed through AOL servers. The only thing you’ll be able to trace is the AOL server’s IP adress, that’s it.

Get the IP from the other people from my school, the same way.
Damn… Leme check with my other PC if the MSN way works or not..

Actually, there IS a way to get IP addresses through an AIM conversation…but last I checked, hacking wasn’t allowed on this forum…?
By initiating a direct file transfer in the conversation you’d be establishing a connection to them and could see their direct IP. This is true for MSN/Yahoo too.
edit: They need to accept the transfer (of say a small notepad file) and it actually needs to establish. Cant just attempt to establish
