Adding another HDD help [solved]

February 5th, 2020

My first Harddrive keeps filling up, so I have to constantly delete stuff which is annoying. So im gonna get a second one, My question is do I need to do anything special to get it to work, or is it pretty much just plug in and play? also do both Harddrive specs have to be the same?
P.S both Harddrives are Sata
Thanks

Answer #1
Sata drives are not hard to install..Just 2 cables…A power cable which normally come out of you power supply…And a sata lead that connects to your motherboard and HD…
Answer #2
I know how to install them… i want to install another but don’t know if the second one needs to have the same specs (spindle speed, cache …) as the one already in the rig.
Answer #3
Install another 4 if you like…Same procedure…Just connect and go…
Answer #4
But does the second Hdd need the same rpm, cache, access time…
Answer #5
NO..Those are old times…New motherboard automatically detects when you connect a new hard drive…You don’t have to do anything..Just connect the cables and switch on your computer…Only you need to set something if you need to change which drive is first…Go to the bios and change the hard drive order…

Ok sweet, thanks mate for the help
Answer #7
you might want to format the new hard drive to NTFS if it isn’t already.(no 4GB limit on file size like fat 32)
