Jdownloader is perfectly fine to use, and you wont get a virus by any means. The best programme you can use however is IDM (internet download manager) – search for it here and you wont ever look back mate, trust.
JDownloader is great, i use it for a long time and no problems at all.
jdownloader pwns, used it for over a year. absolutly love the app.
thanks 4 the replays. im using jdownloader now 2 dl a file but i just want 2 make sure i dont get any problems from it since i had problems with other apps in the past that messed up my pcs really badly.

Don’t worrie, a lot of people uses this app and it’s really great, no problems at all.

Jdownloader is amazing. You probably wont get a worm/virus from the program but you could get it from whatever you download.
Run a decent antivirus as well and you should be ok.
I tried IDM and found that is was a pain to use, couldnt add links and group them together (though this was probably my fault for using jdownloader and expecting something similar), e.g. add a movie and group all of them links under one heading. Just found it overly complex, under featured, not too straight forward… When all I want to do is a link and press download, be able to set the ammount of downloads at a time, schedule things, set ammount of connections per host, and independant control of my premium account as i dont save my passwords in firefox.

well i have stopzilla installed (even though i heard 2 change it 2 a better 1 i just use it cause im used 2 it). i was thinking of getting a better antivirus but im hoping its better than stopzilla & i can use a keygen/serial #.
Er, I’ve never heard of Stopzilla, but from a quick google that ISNT antivirus, its antispyware. Thats two totally different things. If your downloading things and dont have your computer protected you will eventually end up infecting your computer and this stopzilla will do nothing apart from sit their and watch.
Use Nod32, Avira or Kaspersky.
i use stopzilla all the time & it deletes the viruses i have aswell & alerts me of them. i hope Nod32, Avira or Kaspersky is good cause i dont want 2 uninstall the anti virus/spyware i have & install something that doesnt do its job & messes my laptop up.

How do you know “the other source” you got the app from is reliable?

JDownloader is the Best Download Manger for a free user IMO
Use a antivirus/ antispyware package
Like Norton Internet Security 2011, using it, no problems, doesnt hog memory, now more customizable than 2010 (excluding things from scan, ETC)
Its on the fourms and TR still works
