4 GB patch for Skyrim

I seen there is a 4 GB patch for systems with 4 GB ram. I downloaded it and it does not work. It says steam has to be running. Also i did not copy it somewhere, i tried using it from extraction folder. I have black box rip version. Is there a way to get it working?

play through steam….

Use CFF explorer on the .EXE
File header -> Characteristics -> Click here
app can handle >2GB address space.
