[Solved]Computer shuts down in some games

My computer shuts down in some games like Rise of the Argonauts and LOTR: Conquest, while I can play others like Drakensang and Two Worlds normally!
It happens only in games, everything else works fine. These four are the only games I tried, i’ll try some more games over the weekend since i’m note home during the week.
I searched around the internet and most people say it’s a busted power supply or the processor is overheating!
I just wanted to know if anyone had similar problems, and can tell me if anything else could be the cause, scince i’m short on cash I wouldn’t want to buy a new power supply or cooler and still have the same problem!
My computer is an Athlon dual core 5200+, gigabyte radeon HD3870, 2×1 GB Ram, 250 GB Hard Drive, 500W power supply(not sure about the brand), i think the motherboard is a gigabyte but don’t know the model!
I use this computer only on the weekends so I will try any useful advice i get on friday and let you know if it helped!

get “everest ultimate” in appz section to monitor your temps

Clean the dust off

btw what are the normal temps for my vga?
depending on the card 40 to 60 degrees for video
30 to 45 for CPU
these are idle temps add 20 for load temps

Thanks for all the info, will test when I get home!
Fixed it, cleaned all the dust from my vga, and cpu cooler, but it was still shutting down although i could play the games longer!
Then i installed and ran SpeedFan when playing the games as i was sure something was overheating!
That fixed it, i guess the cpu fan was not spinning fast enough, works perfectly now!
Played Rise of the Argonauts without problems, also played LOTR: Conquest but it had a problem, it sucks big time, what a lame game!
So if anyone has the same problem hope this helps!
