Laptop Over Heating and Battery Issues
January 23rd, 2020
I am looking at a laptop for a friend. It is a Pacard Bell EasyNote R series. It has a celeron processer, 2 x 512 ddr ram, 50gb hdd. not sure if graphics are onboard or not. i think they are.
at first, it would not start up at all.
I took the entire laptp apart, and checker for any damaged wires, or broken circutry. There was a bit of bad soldering around the power jack, but i soldered it back on.
Then, i put it back together, and the laptop turned on, with a loud beeping noise. it starts up, and after a few minutes, it just turns off without warning. (similar to if you pull the power and battery out)
The fan runs very loudly. I put a bag of ice under the laptop, and that helped it stay on for a good few minutes, but when i took the ice away, it turned off.
the battery doesn’t seem to charge either. battery light in the case just flashes red. i think it could just be a dead battery. however if the laptop would work just of the ac adapter without shutting down, that would be enough.
I’m currently searching about google for answers, but not turning up much. Can anyone reccomend anything for this laptop?
Anyone got any ideas on what i can do to fix this? or have any similar troubles.
any help appreciated.
I know how you can solve the ice bag problem..lol not much but as much as i can do.
buy these fans and place them under the laptop :

There is more than one type depends on the laptops size, how many fans, design etc. Useful tool.

The laptop is probably shutting down because it is overheating. Go into your BIOS and check the temperature of the parts in the laptop. Whatever the case, it looks like you’ll have to take it apart again and make sure that all fans are plugged in, that there is no dust inside, that the CPU is firmly seated, and that the fans are properly oiled. The beeps are probably BIOS error codes (Google “BIOS error codes” for a list of them). The fact that that fan is noisy could mean that there’s something wrong with it. If the noise stops, that means that the fan has stopped running.

Hey, yeah i know about those. they aren’t really an option right now. But thanks for the reply

I know that, hence why stated it was an overheating problem.
you'll have to take it apart again and make sure that all fans are plugged in
Yes, this is why i took it apart the first time. I checked for any errors with parts. The fan runs fine, its just that its running at top speed all the time, again why i stated it was an overheating problem.
The beeps are probably BIOS error codes (Google "BIOS error codes" for a list of them
Okay thanks for that.
I’ll most likely be taking it apart again, probably tomorrow, when i have a little more time. I’ll try checking the temp in teh bios, but the laptop usually shuts down before i can. Will need that bag of ice again. There is only ONE FAN in this laptop, and ONE heatsink. I think it may just be a bad design more than anything Physically wrong with it. However i cannot rule out the possibility.
OK. Just don’t expect any more advice from me.

if you insist.
thanks for your help so far.
it starts up,
so you get a display and it will boot ?
if the fan is noisy it may not be running full speed
if you spin it with you finger duz it grumble or do you feel vibration and duz it spin freely
a good fan normally will reverse just slightly as it stops after spinning it with your finger
also you can replace the thermal paste between the CPU and heatsink
if it has more than 1 stick of ram pop 1 or the other out and try it as ram can cause beeping
a good lil battery monitor
