Disable SATA Native support from BIOS when installing new operating system!
i have this new laptop hp pavilion dv 5 1050 ep, and it comes with windows vista, wich in my opinion sucks, and it just ocupates more space runs slower, conflicts with other progams, and so ... i want to install windows xp and linux, like in my desktop one, but the HP hdd is an SATA so i need a to install new drivers while installing then i need a floopy usb ... im looking for some one that has done it and it can help me, also i want to keep vista in case the HP drivers for XP wont work ...
Installing other operating systems along side with vista is a very risky move. Sometimes it will work fine, sometimes it won’t.

yes, i’ve myself got a HP laptop. Had this problem a while back, then i disabled the sata support, then the windows cd recognized my HD.
From what I’ve heard, you can’t install two operating systems on HP together. Install XP, Vista is gone automatically. Tell me if I’m wrong.
^ yes u are wrong!! I’ve got a nx series HP laptop which i have triple booted. 2 XPs and one vista. I just had to edit the boot options to make them work.
