Can’t set up internet

August 4th, 2016

I got a new pc last week and it didn’t have an ethernet card with it so I ordered one and it came blah blah blah and I installed it and today I went to set up the internet with the virgin media cd after installing the drivers for the ethernet card and everything correctly and it won’t work. Here’s a picture to explain it better.

Answer #1
Ring Virgin
Answer #2
By my understanding your network card/chip is faulty, hence the 169.xxx.xxx.xxx IP address.
Answer #3
I only got it 2 days ago and installed it today, how can it be faulty already

Last time I bought a pc from Acer the network chip was also faulty, and showed the same IP.
Also tried for days to figure out what the problem was. But like someone suggested try calling Virgin, I could be wrong.
Also if you have another pc with a network card, try swapping it to your new pc to see if that’s the problem.
Answer #5
Well I’m going to try the card I use in here in the other pc and if it works then it’s the other card and if it doesn’t then it’s virgin media.
Answer #6
Try resetting winsock by doing “netsh winsock reset” from command prompt (start>run>cmd)
restart when done. (Do note that you must do this with an admin account,Wouldn’t
work with a limited one)
