Error 3002 Ipod Update 3.0 to 4.0

hi
i was wondering if anyone can help me
i have an ipod touch 2G running on firmware 3.0 and was jailbroken using redsn0w
i’ve been trying to update the firmware to 4.0
i have the correct firmware file
but everytime i shift+restore or shift+update in itunes
i either get a message saying error 3002 or 3194 and says that ipod could not be updated
wanted to know if anyone else have had this problem and if it can be solved
btw i downloaded another 4.0 firmware file directly from apple in case the file may have been corrup, but still nothing
another quick question i wanted to ask was, is it worth upgrading to 4.0?
because im already so used to 3.0 and only want to update because nothing installs on my ipod anymore as the minimum requirements are now 3.2

Unless you have SHSHs for 4.0/4.0.1/4.0.2 you can’t upgrade to those firmwares. Try 4.1.

itunes wont let you restore to 4.0 anymore they stopped letting you do that a few months back…you download the .ipsw file and click shift+restore but when it verifies with itunes it fails…thats why
EDIT like prozac said about the SHSH stored that is the only way…you can do a restore from 3.0 to 4.0.0

just wanted to ask again if it is actually worth the stress and hassle upgrading from 3.0 to 4.0 because i’ve seen a lot of people asking for help on downgrading from 4.0 to 3.2

3.2 only exists for the iPad. How is it “stressful” to click one button to upgrade to the newest firmware?

its stressful by which i mean backing up data on itunes
and then i have soooo many apps which will be deleted and may need reinstalling
the cracked cydia apps which include my favourite iprotect and ibluenova
and then the hassle and stress of copying the back up data back onto the data
all this time consuming hassle and stress just to update the firmware
so my question is
is it actually worth updating 3.0 to 4.0
by which i mean
are there like any major changes or features in 4.0 compared to 3.0
since ive seen so many people on other forums requesting for help on downgrading from 4.0
