Ram Question
August 6th, 2016
I have a computer using Pc-4300 and was wondering if i could replace it with Pc- 4200 ram. Thanks
hmhmm the whole 4300/4200 ram, similar to 3300/3200 and many more like that are just discrepencies with rounding.
it is a clock speed that is reached, only some manufactures give the real rounded value (which is 4200), the other gives a rounded UP value (4300) <— im cant remember if thats the other way around.
ESSENTIALLY, 4300/4200 is the same thing, what you have to look out for is 4200/3200 – the latter is a class lower, and slower
i had pc333 256mb in slot 1 and pc400 512 2nd slot and its working!
thanks!!! =) =)

it will work but wont run as efficiently as 2 of the same (matched pairs)

yes it will run but clock down to pc333. so both of your rams are running at that speed. Its best for having both all same speed and i would check the mobo for the max fsb for ram then buy that if its only 1gig it makes the biggest differents.
