Wireless Connection Problem
August 8th, 2016
Next thing I know I had to go somewhere and turned off my computer. I come back and TOR doesn’t work and neither does my wifi signal -.-
Man wtf is going on, can anyone help me on how to fix this?
I have an HP G60t-200 laptop
the wifi card is an Atheros 5xx6(or 5xx7) wifi card.
Try using Windows Zero Connection thing. It usually happens to me
In XP, i usually right click and choose repair. If this does not work i unplug modem and router, wait a while then see how things go.
First disable TOR. Then see if you can get to the wireless router configuration page. If you can’t, then reset the router. This can be done by unplugging it from power and plugging it back in. Wait a couple minutes for it to boot up and try again.
If you still can’t connect, go to the router and plug your computer into the router directly with an Ethernet cable. You have to disable your wireless connection in order to use the wired connection properly without doing tricky things. Try going to the configuration page.
If you still can’t access it then the TCP/IP settings could be wrong on your laptop. Try setting your IP address to one in the range of the router. For example if your router’s config page is this:
http://192.168.1.1
Then try an IP address of:
192.168.1.200
With a subnet mask of:
255.255.255.0
If it still doesn’t work, try resetting the router to its default settings. This is usually done by holding the reset button in the back of the router for up to a minute. Then you should be able to access the router config page. If you have to reset the router’s settings, you will need to set the settings that you had before (all wireless settings, any port forwarding, custom router IP address, WAN username and password, router password, etc.)
Once you get into the router configuration, double-check the wireless settings. Make sure that they are the same on your computer. Then unplug the cable and try connecting wirelessly. Disable all security settings and try again if it still won’t work. Once you get it working, enable the security settings one at a time. If you need detailed help on any of this, let me know.
An easy way to trouble shoot this is to go:
Run > CMD > then type “tracert www.google.com” (no quotes)
That will basically tell you if you’re wireless card is working.
If it is then it will tell you if you’re router is connecting to the net.
So basically you can see if you need to restart ur router or its a wireless card issue.
If you need more information just let me know.
Took a while but I tried everyones advice and sadly still no luck
Anymore questions on what to do?

Did you try disabling all the security on your network and see if it works then?
yes i even changed he WEP to open with no authentication just double click and connect and still cant connect
Did you search for possible interference such as other wireless networks, cordless phones, microwaves, TVs, and other things that could be causing interference with your wireless network?
Try moving the router or your laptop away from those things and changing the channel to see if that helps.
Choose a channel that’s the farthest away from the one that you are currently using. The channels overlap quite a bit, so if you were getting some interference from another wireless network, moving the channel as far away from them as possible will reduce any interference much more than just moving by one or two channels.
If there are many wireless networks in your area, there may be so much interference that you can’t get a good connection. To overcome this, you can get a router and wireless network card that support 802.11a, which uses the 5GHz band, which is much less crowded than the 2.4GHz band that 802.11b and 802.11g use.
