XP to Windows 2000?

August 5th, 2016

Is there a way to get from Windows XP to Windows 2000 or 98, without formatting? If there isn’t without formatting and can you send me a simple guide to format my hard disk and set it up for Windows 2000?

Can i ask why you would want to do this?
Answer #2
Make a partition, find a bootable copy of 2000 or 98 and burn it and insert, restart, boot from cd and install in partition.l

Some people think the further you go down the history the better it gets
Answer #6
partition is the only way, no windows OS has a downgrade function so you would have to do a complete install in theory

his computer probably cant even run vista if he’s thinking about downgrading to 2000
Answer #10
I recently installed Win2000 on an old laptop, it was amazing to see how it was after all this time. A clean OS with no clutter whatsoever. That’s how they should release their OS, with just the bare bones OS and no extra forced applications that suck compared to 3rd party software.
Like Vista Ultimate, it’s just an ultimate waste of space. They should have an official Vista Micro version too.
Answer #11
Downgrade is not avaible.
Boot in the cd, and erase all of your stuff and then install it on a new clean partion.
I recently installed windows 95. Damn it booted fast on a 128mb of ram!
Answer #12
VMWare! Google it

agreed, i aint ever going to vista. XP runs faster than 2000 however. Im not sure why but regardless of the amount of processes 2000 simply isn’t as fast.
Just set the win2000 theme on XP and be done with it
Answer #14
I remember using windows 95, fast and easy to use, now we got XP on this computer and Vista downstairs, heavy resource hungry OS’s, but at least XP is stable, pretty interested in Windows 2000, so am downloading it now! Cheers.
