Movie Format for Standalone DVD Player
August 4th, 2016
why don’t you covert those downloaded movies using a converter like freemake, xilisoft etc?
thank you for your quick reply, I do not want to go to the trouble to convert or burn a download just for 1 showing..I just want to be able to view the data on a standalone quickly and easily…any other ideas to my original post..
Look at the file extension, the uploader should at least post that info about the movie. Besides avi, amost all movies out there are either mkv or mp4 which won’t work for you.
software to see if a movie has what I want before downloading
nope, you need to D/L it to use a codec ID app
is there a way
what you want to look for is files in “AVI” format that are xvid (or divx) and usually labeled DVDrip no MP4, MKV, BR, 1080p, 720p or x/h264
All dvd players on the market can play many varying formats. For example, I have one Dvd player thay can play AVI (xvid and divx) and some MP4 and another that can play only AVi (divx). To include mkv, you will need to include a standalone media player, which can be cheap and can handle anything. Hope this helps….
You can’t do anything with a DVD player except play .avi or full DVD format..
So if you don’t want to convert, use a Media Player, as suggested, that can play many formats!
