BDMV Blu-Ray file help

July 31st, 2016

So, I downloaded a movie from this site and I’m a fan of 1080p versions and usually there .mkv (which is just a rip of the .m2ts file I believe) but this is the first time I came across the BDMV files~ Folders are not allowed ~. Now I know what they are and what not, I just wondering if there is anything special I can do with the files inside the folder. vlc played the .m2ts file perfectly, watching the movie isn’t my problem. I also downloaded vso media player because that supports the other files that are in the BDMV folder (.bdmv .clpi and .mpls) but all that does is play the movie.
the BDMV folder has the stream folder which contains the actual movie (.m2ts) the index.bdmv and the MovieObject.bdmv along with the playlist folder which contains the .mpls, the clipnf folder which contains the .clpi and then the backup folder which is pretty self explanatory (contains a backup of the playlist and clipnf folders along with both .bdmv files). it also has a NFO file witch is just the encoders information.
I know this is the set up that is on a normal blu-ray disk. even the files are named accordingly xxxxx.whatever (these happen to be 00000.whatever) I’m wondering if I should be doing anything special with these files, if there is a program that will use all the files or if there not even needed at all. and also if renaming the .m2ts file is ok, I see no problem with remaining it but I thought I’d ask just in case. I know what all the files are essentially and I kind of know what there used for on the blu-ray disk.
I guess I am mostly just wondering if I can get more out of the movie with these extra files or if there just not needed at all. also if renaming the .m2ts file is ok (I am almost 100% sure it is though, I don’t see why it wouldn’t be) because I know that renaming the file on the blu-ray disk can cause problems if I’m not mistaken. I guess because this is the first time I have come across these files when downloading a movie, I want to make sure there is nothing special I can do with the files. like if played correctly I’ll get the main menu and such

are you trying to burn it? what size is the file? i have only gotten these when i personally would rip blurays and burn them to BD-R’s (i would click drag the BDMV folder to imgburn and it would burn it) what is the movie? every movie ive downloaded has the huge true 1080p MKV rips…hell i even uploaded a few 3d bluray iso’s on here and true 1080p rips for those that want the best quality (12gb-25gb MKV files) but to answer main question you arent getting anything else out of it its probably a full bluray rip and once burned to a bluray would have menus etc…those are meant to be burned to BD-Rs and are uncommon to find these days since MKV is the industry standard

You could try opening the folder as a bluray disc in VLC (Ctrl + F). I’m not sure if it works for BDMV’s, but it does work for regular DVD’s.

VLC wont play BD folders or BD iso’s or even Bluray Disks w/o doing some off tweaking and most of the time it still doesn’t work

It actually was a movie I downloaded from here that I wanted to watch. The movie was gamer and it was like 8-12 gigs not too sure. It’s like they didn’t even rip the movie, they just copied the files. But I don’t think it’s really that easy .
Basically I was wondering if there was anything special I could do with these files instead of the normal .mkv’s you would normally find but you seemed to have answered most of my questions thanks. But theoretically, if I burned the entire file to a blueray disk, I might get all the extra stuff too? I not going to do it, im just curious. I don’t even have a blu ray player for my computer let alone a blu ray burner lol
Edit: I am pretty sure this was the download
