Need help buying a CAT cable

August 1st, 2016

So recently I started thinking about buying a cat cable for my room since the router is in the 1st floor of my house and my room is on the 3rd floor, been using wifi for a while and I don’t like the results. When buying things I always look for the best, so my promised download speed is 50mb/s, can’t recall upload.. The case is I want the best cat cable that will utilize those speeds. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: Router – Cisco Linksys EA6500

Any regular cat5e cable will suffice. Don’t get the cheapest, because there could be some fakes, but getting the most expensive once isn’t necessary either. Cat5e cables support gigabit ethernet, which is about 20 times as much as your download speed.

In addition to what said, It might be worth pointing out that you should keep the cable length to less than 100m if you’re planning on running the cable very far

I have never bought an assembled cat cable in my life. I always make my own….only way to be sure of the quality. You will also have much more flexibility with the installation. Buy the cable reel and plugs, boots etc from a quality supplier. Buy more than you need, it will benefit you into the future. You will also need some tools, plenty of easy how-to tutorials on the web.
