Windows XP or Lubuntu for Older Laptop?
August 6th, 2016
Really no point in xp as support stops soon,i recently installed linux mint cinnamon as a dual boot works very well.
I can’t install Linux Mint or Peppermint Linux on my Laptop, because computer freeze when i click Try or Install. My only choose is Windows XP or i buy a new Laptop and sell these old Laptops.
If you’ve got good knowledge and experience of using Linux, then go with Linux. I personally don’t use Linux but used a few versions. The most user friendly version was Ubuntu.
I can run only Lubuntu on this Laptop, but Wi-Fi not working. Other versions can’t install, because computer freeze. Peppermint Linux Installation freeze, when i click Install. Computer beeps one time and freeze.
because computer freeze
you check the hard drive’s health ?
specs on the lappy ?
TinyXP is a good alternative for old/slow machines if you want to do just basic stuff
No matter how old you think your laptop is, if you have 1Gb ram or more just go with windows 7. I ran windows 7 fine on my old toshiba satellite (2006 Model) with just 512mb ram. Later you can easily upgrade to 2Gb+ and remain in the future, which I did

Linux is the best old hardware or new
if you are getting freezing there was a popular issue known mostly to debian linux … i believe it was a setting in the BIOS dealing with APIC
also checking the image you download is a good idea to make sure it is ok
here is a guide
