Should I not download from people who have been banned?

So sometimes I come across uploaders who have been banned. Like they might have several thousand posts, and sometimes long threads and a whole bunch of uploads but for whatever reason they’re banned. I look in the thread and nobody talking about viruses or whatever so I can’t imagine they been banned for uploading virus. Yet I’m not comfortable downloading their work if they’ve been banned because I keep wondering why that is (did they still somebody else’s uploads, did they get into a fight with the admin, whatever). What should I do?

mostly banned members here for reply with other ids to main threads u can fake accounts they using to get more downloads but you can downloads files from banned users

Most have broken simple rules and that’s it. Mods would do their best to remove suspicious files. That’s not to say there aren’t lots on here, it’s after all and just look at the sheer amount of topics posted daily. If a user is found to have bad uploads i think it’s safe to say mods would remove that users entire uploads to be on safe side. But that’s just my assumption.

Check there post’s number, if they were a long time user they probably lost there account from saying something stupid. So yes, you can still download, if it is a 3 post user who got banned and has 2 links to files no, or maybe at best.

if downloading from a banned member i suggest scanning your downloaded files with anti virus.

You are more likely to pick up a nasty from one of the numerous spambot postings, unlike posts by decent uploaders (some banned for indifferent reasons) who check and scan what they are uploading, the spambot stuff is just mass posted and certainly isn’t checked before uploading.

if they were banned, the links will die slowly or rather quickly. You start on part1 and one is missing you will not be able to complete the download.
Just make sure all links are live from a banned uploader.
edit: if the uploader banned from virus, then the topic would probably disappear at the same time

they may be banned but if they have a lot of posts and comments and are long time registered users the chances of viruses are less and you can trust them with the files. Like when i do for mobile apps i choose two or three and i download from them only. and if the file is uploaded by someone else and they have not uploaded the same file i simply dont download and look for another application.

If you can access their topic that means the ban is no way related to their uploads….
You take the same risk downloading from a banned or not banned member..
Even if hacked..All topics posted by the hacker get removed after the ban..Even the topics posted by the original account holder get removed if they been edited…

Basically there is no right or wrong answer, just do what you feel is comfortable…. Me, personally, I would download it, especially if its something which is hard to find.

Thanks everyone, especially mods and other old-timers, like and etc, who responded. I guess I would be more comfortable downloading stuff from a banned person if they have a lot of posts and if in other threads people downloading stuff have not complained about any problems (programs not working, viruses, stealing other people’s work). I guess I will be cautious regardless of whose work I’m downloading cause as says, in both cases you’re taking a risk. And given that though I have security and anti-virus on my computer, it’s not as best as it could be. And it’s not like I can download security software here to further improve security for peace of mind…because a downloaded antivirus itself could have a virus. So better safe than sorry.

Thanks and just one more question, some people have not been banned but says “This Account Has Been Hacked.” What is that mean?

It means the account was hacked/Compromised..
Nothing to fear from a hacked account as anything that’s not been posted by the original account holder get removed from public access..
