How does a jailbreak corrupt an ios update?

August 4th, 2016

I am having a tough time deciding whether I should jailbreak or not. Ever time I jailbreak if I wanted to upgrade my ios version I always get corrupted download. Even downloading the official IPSW from a different site I still get error when trying to upgrade. Lucky I have 2 computers so I managed to download ipsw 7.1 and updated on my desktop since my laptop kept getting errors when trying to update my IOS firmware. I had trouble at ios 6.1.2 to ios 7 to 7.0.6 and ios 7.1. Also why can’t you update via OTA with jailbreak? Now that can’t be all a coincidence because when I got my Iphone 4s brand new at ios I think 5.1 or whatever it was, I hadn’t jailbroken it yet and it went through the update to ios 6.1.2 perfectly with no errors.

No, it doesn’t directly currupt the next iOS version. You’re able to update inside of iTunes (when your plugged in), but I cannot update on WiFi or 3g. Some times I’ve had the issue with I couldn’t even update with iTunes, if that happens I just put my device into Restore Mode.
All legally paid content (Apps, Music, and videos) is backed up on iCloud (really the AppStores iCloud. Doesn’t take up your iCloud space). All bootlegged content, sure as installing applications from AppCake or any other Cydia provided app, will not be saved. If you downloaded songs from any other site then iTunes, it will not be archived/saved unless in your prefenses you said so but STILL HIGHLY recommend you save that content on your hard-drive or an external hard-drive.

Not even through itunes on my laptop I couldn’t restore had to resort to using my desktop to restore with the IPSW firmware for 7.1.

If your iPad or iPhone has a problem and needs to be restored from a backup, heres how to put it into recovery mode and take it out of recovery mode in iOS 7. Here’s how to enable iOS 6 recovery mode along with more information about recovery mode versus DFU mode.
1. First, make sure iTunes is up to date on your laptop, PC or Mac. Then, connect a USB cable to your computer, but dont plug it into your iPad or iPhone just yet.
2. Power off your iPhone or iPad by holding the sleep/wake button until the red bar appears: swipe to the right to shut down your device. Wait until the spinning wheel has gone and then hold the home button down.
3. Connect the USB cable and continue to hold the home button.
4. You will see the Apple logo appear, and this will change to the recovery graphic:
iOS 7 recovery mode
5. You can now release the home button. Your iPhone or iPad is now in recovery mode, and iTunes should be displaying a message to say as much.
iOS 7 recovery mode
You can now use iTunes to restore a previously saved backup to your device.
How to get out of recovery mode in iOS 7
To get out of recovery mode, make sure your USB cable is connected to both the laptop running iTunes and your device. You may need to hold the home button while connecting your USB cable as above.
Now hold the home and sleep/wake buttons together until you see the Apple logo appear. Dont let go until then it can take several seconds: the recovery graphic will disappear and a black screen might be shown for a while, but keep holding the buttons down until the white Apple appears.
Leave the USB cable connected until your device boots up and shows the lock screen. Its now out of recovery mode.

I know this basic stuff. I am asking why it corrupts the file for the next ios upgrade.
