Ipod won’t turn on after being dropped

My husband dropped his Ipod Classic today. It was in a case when dropped. However, it won’t turn on unless it is hooked up to an electrical outlet. My husband charged it, but once it is disconnected from the outlet, it won’t turn on. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you. We checked the Apple support site. Nothing worked. My husband decided to open up the Ipod. Something broke off inside. Cannot repair it. Time to go! Thanks again.
