Can’t find right Windows boot camp for my mac….

So i’ve done this before, but i recently got a new laptop and now i can’t seem to figure it out. I’ve donwloaded windows 7 iso , but it apparently doesn’t work for my mac…. Any ideas on how i can find it here? Searching ‘windows’ in mac section doens’t work
Secondly, I needed an external previously, because my mac has flash memory, and for some reason it needs an external. Then i finaly get one and when i go to use boot camp it says that it only supports window 7 or later, even though it’s a windows 8 iso image file.
Please let me know what i can do!
