Alternative to tiny7

March 15th, 2014

I want a stripped down version of win7. I’ve heard of using RT 7 Lite to strip down stuff and then customize your own version, but I’ve tried it and it hasn’t been working for me and I’m using a 32 bit system. :I so I was wondering if there’s one that someone already did that could possibly be under 1 GB?

Lol, Yeah if you’re looking for an even more slimmed down version of Windows 7 I doubt there is anymore more slimming down that can be done.
If you want a slimmer Windows 7, install XP and theme it with a Windows 7 theme lol
Answer #2
I agree…
You see a lot of members posting many problems that end up being associated with certain stripped down or custom type Windows installations.
If you need something like this in order to be light on your system’s resources, then I would consider something like Windows Starter 7. (or XP)
If on the other hand, your objective is solely for the sake of customization, then I would simply learn the in and outs of any operating system.

yea i just want it to be light on my resources… I’d get xp but the problem of that would be the drivers and such…which have been a real pain to get for my laptop.
Would the windows starter 7 N version be a recommended OS. Since it seems lite and then pretty compact.

I use it on my netbook with no problems at all; and I don’t have any problem in recommending it.
Of course, another solution would be to “beef up” your current laptop in order to run Windows 7.

haha it runs windows 7 fine. it came with it. I just like utilizing my resources to the max without the bloated stuff. There shouldn’t be any problems running a netbook OS version of 7 on a regular laptop right? I realize these may be stupid questions but times change. I’ve been using tiny7 for the past year and there comes a time to keep updating on OS and what not

That is correct. You can run Windows Starter 7 on your laptop or desktop just fine.
Answer #7
thanks so much guys! and i’m assuming that the starter will also automatically install drivers for you right? just like a regular one would
Answer #8
Yes, I think Windows 7 Starter also installs the drivers automatically. But! only with generic ones to get you started
