Best Antivirus for x64 Computer?
March 5th, 2014
So far I’ve heard Bitdefender and Nod32 were good, however I got that information off PC review sites and they don’t need to worry about false positives from downloads.
Tried searching for the other 1000 threads on this subject?

there are no “best” antivirus… all the same IMO…
yeap there are no best antivirus… and i guess all of them will have false positives…
i would recommend you microsoft security essentials… it is free and from microsoft
@SmAsHeDr: I have and haven’t found one with recent information, stuff that matters like the fact Nod32 is too busy working on a way to fight pirating of their software that their updates have become increasingly less useful.
@blanc7 and 7HarryPotter7: >.> Really you both only focused on the word best? I meant best in your opinion. And no not all antivirus software are the same. There was a very helpful article on Demonoid about some of the better antivirus software, however it is very dated and no longer accesible. It talked about things such as which used up less resources and still had the same percentage of catching virus, which companies were paid to mark keygens and cracks as viruses (This is part of the whole false-positive thing.), etc.

Just further proves you did not, or don’t know how to, search.
You want the real answer? Common Sense 2011.
AV’s are not needed, just use your head.
You do need a good firewall tho, Comodo is good and free.

i used kaspersky for quite some time (with trial resetter) and its quite good i dont have any problem for (maybe) a year or more… i used NOD32 and BitDefender too way long back, they’re good too…
now i change my antivirus to MSE, its quite good, fast, doesnt take much process… but it doesnt have firewall so i use COMODO firewall with it…
so my conclusion every antivirus has its own good and bad side… NOD32 quite light, Kaspersky quite noisy but keep us informed, etc…
and i heard that BitDefender use by NASA now… so just pick it and try yourself…
Kaspkesky + Threatfire + Malwarebytes = awesomeness.
AVG all the way. The free version is great, the paid version is the best. One of the higher rated brands.
Kaspkesky, they create the virus lists for loads of the anti virus programs, so they are the best for protection
I use MSE on all my pcs now, smooth and you don’t even notice it’s there most of the time.
I don’t think there is really a best, most people usually stick to the one they feel most comfortable and safe with, going by past experiences.
I generally use Corporate anti-virus solutions as opposed to home solutions, but that’s just me. However, I think the key points in deciding are “real time” protection, and updating the definitions as often as possible, eg. mine checks every 2 hours for new definitions and will auto-download and install them.
