win xp on a new desktop
August 6th, 2016
I’m trying to install win xp SP 2 on a newer machine, Asus P5QPL-AM motherboard with 2 gb of RAM, intel 2.6 GHz dual core, and SATA disks and optical roms.
While i was installing i kept getting errors about .dlls, failed driver discovery’s and such. I installed despite the errors and now when the windows turn on all i see is a blue screen, not blue screen of death, just a blue screen.
I have a feeling that my xp cd is to old, i doesn’t have some files for newer machines, can you suggest me a newer, tested version that you yourself tried and can confirm it’s not filled with malware.
I really don’t wanna install win7 and explain it to the people all over again on how to use it.
thanks in advance for your help
Most of the posts on this forum shouldn’t contain spyware and such, if it does it’s usually reported. As long as you go for a clean edition (nothing like the black edition etc) you should be safe.
I haven’t actually tried it, but this thread looks good (You want to install SP3, not SP2):

You should try windows 7 though, the PC can run it, and it’s a great OS.
If you need any help getting the windows installed and working, just PM me and I’ll see what i can do.
thank you i will download and try this, i just need to buy some cd’s first.
i know that win7 will work, but people i’m working this for aren’t that great with computers and i think win7 would just confuse them more.
yeah, that’s why most school computers run Windows XP… because it’s simple.
and if you downloaded the OS off here, it’s most likely a bad download.
what do you mean bad download? infected with malware?
from where should i download then?
you might have a broken format cd buy a new one
You just need to look before you download, read feedback also helps. (I have downloaded 2 copy’s of XP with keys and both work fine).
Not infected or virus coz I checked.
Can’t find the post nor can I upload them coz i have not so good internet speed.
