Unable to access BIOS or boot setting HP DV6

June 5th, 2020

Hello folks,
I had upgraded to windows 8 last month on my HP DV6 61235tx laptop which was earlier on windows 7.
Yesterday i thought of moving on or trying out windows 10, as part of the preparation for worst case i prepared a linux bootable usb and to try it out started trying to access bios/bootable options by pressing f2, f10, f6, esc, del buttons on startup.
None of the above worked for me, all i see if a hp logo without the usual press this button to access this.
I clearly remember seeing the buttons message on bootup in windows7. Please help.

Answer #1
Did you try F8?
Answer #2
Yes tried that as well
Answer #3
I think I may need to install some UEFI diagnostic tools from HP, which require some HP_TOOLS partition.
I do not have the HP_TOOLS folder which i believe now is important to get into the BIOS.
Answer #4
Issue solved, there was a update and recovery option under pc settings which i used to access the boot options.
